How do you build growth together? By meeting each other—just as happened last night during the Campussen Dinner 2025. The gathering, held in the inspiring setting of Niemeyer in Groningen, brought together more than 100 frontrunners, partners, entrepreneurs, scientists, and policymakers for an evening fully dedicated to connecting for growth and celebrating three important milestones.
Het Groningse deeptechbedrijf Circolide heeft verschillende financiering opgehaald voor de verdere ontwikkeling van haar innovatieve technologie. Met behulp van licht en groene energie produceren zij duurzame chemische bouwstenen uit biomassa-afvalstromen. Met deze financiele inpuls zet Circolide een belangrijke stap richting de opschaling van haar productieproces en de realisatie van een testomgeving in Noord-Nederland.
Zwartwoud – circular interior designers and furniture makers – excels in the smart reuse of valuable materials. The jury praised them as ‘a leader and standard-bearer in transition, with an impact on sustainability, business operations, local networks, corporate social responsibility and innovation.’
Groningen is, and will remain, the heart of health innovation in the Netherlands. The draft masterplan for the Healthy Ageing Campus has been released for public consultation. The plan provides room for Groningen’s ambitions in healthcare and groundbreaking research, aimed at achieving more healthy years for everyone. With this masterplan, an important milestone has been reached.
The pressure on eye care is increasing. Waiting times are growing, while an ageing population drives up demand for ophthalmic care. Two professionals decided it was time for change. From the Meditech Center at the Healthy Ageing Campus Groningen, Wietse Wieringa and Moritsz Schelwald have been building ELOC (Eerstelijns Oogheelkundig Centrum, or Primary Eye Care Center) since June 1, 2025.
At Campus Groningen, we are committed to ensuring that the Zernike Campus remains easily accessible and future-proof. Mobility plays a key role in this. Together with partners such as Groningen Bereikbaar, we are working on smart solutions that will keep the campus accessible to students, staff, entrepreneurs and visitors – now and in the future.
The installation of the first board of the National Top Campus and Science Park Organisations Foundation (Stichting NCO) in October 2025 marks an important milestone in the collaboration between the Netherlands’ leading campuses and science parks. With this new structure, cooperation is now firmly anchored and ready to deliver on the shared ambitions heading into 2026.
The arrival of an AI factory in Groningen has recently been officially confirmed! Congratulations to everyone who has worked hard to make this unique facility a reality. Niemeyer is the intended location for the centre of expertise, while another location in Groningen is being sought for the supercomputer. This is a wonderful development for the region and a great step forward for the partners and community of Campus Groningen!
