Points of view

Another Point Of View

At Campus Groningen, we are working on solutions for tomorrow's world. This is where innovations are conceived, developed, tested in practice and prepared for the wider world. To make these innovations clearly visible, we are setting up Points of View on the Campus. A place to discover all the wonderful things that are being developed on the Campus, to find inspiration and to meet each other.

Innovation projets

Ecofalt

Ecofalt, a sustainable alternative to regular asphalt, was laid on De Mudden road at Zernike Campus in 2019. Ecofalt contains a plant-based binding agent. It is produced and processed cold, which means that CO2 emissions are lower than with regular asphalt. In addition, the base and intermediate layers consist of no less than 90% recycled demolition waste. This is the first time that ecofalt has been used for asphalting in the municipality of Groningen.

Capital Steps

The Capital Steps make growth and development visible in a visual and tangible way. With three-dimensional, ascending steps, they symbolize progress, ambition, and the power of collaboration within an innovative environment. The Capital Steps travel to various locations, adopting a new theme each time, continually inspiring and connecting people.

ROAM

Showcase ROAM is a self-sufficient and circular building on the Zernike Campus in Groningen, designed and built by students. ROAM aims to stimulate and facilitate interaction between education, research, businesses, and campus visitors. ROAM offers space for exhibitions, work and meeting areas, and serves as a meeting place where inspiration is central. The building is constructed from sustainable materials from so-called donor buildings and is energy-independent.

Waste works

Waste Works offers a biobased, circular and climate adaptive pavement. This buffer pavement helps to prevent waterflooding after heavy rainfall, lower the co2 emissions in the concrete market and fasten the transition to a circular economy.
