Showcase ROAM is a self-sufficient and circular building on the Zernike Campus in Groningen, designed and built by students. ROAM aims to stimulate and facilitate interaction between education, research, businesses, and campus visitors. ROAM offers space for exhibitions, work and meeting areas, and serves as a meeting place where inspiration is central. The building is constructed from sustainable materials from so-called donor buildings and is energy-independent. ROAM is the result of a sustainable and innovative collaboration at Campus Groningen and is one of the identified 'points of view' locations on Campus Groningen.
ROAM stands for a glimpse into the future, a place where innovation, sustainability, and collaboration come together. The pavilion acts as a window (Grunnegs: raam) to the innovations of the world of tomorrow, a place where you can wander and discover. The word "ROAM" simultaneously evokes the freedom to take a look and be inspired by groundbreaking ideas, in connection with the region
Over the next two years, Academie Minerva will use ROAM as an inspiring meeting place on campus where art and sustainability come together. Here, bachelor's and master's students collaborate with researchers on various projects – from research on sustainable materials to experimental exhibitions and artist-in-residence programs. In addition, ROAM hosts lectures, discussions, and unexpected collaborations. This diverse programming demonstrates how art can contribute to innovative ideas for a sustainable future. ROAM invites the professional field, students, educational institutions, and businesses at Zernike Campus to observe, brainstorm, and be inspired.
