This spring, we’re taking a sporting step together towards the Groningen Marathon, powered by Campus Groningen. Campus Groningen and the WEST Business Association have enlisted Trainen met de Top to offer free running clinics to everyone on and around the campus – from seasoned runners to enthusiastic beginners. Under the guidance of Dutch champions Nik Lemmink and Bram Buigel, you’ll have the chance to train specifically for the 10 km, half marathon or marathon on 31 May 2026. It’s a great way to get fit, meet new people and train together towards a goal.
- Free running clinics on the Zernike Campus led by Dutch champions Nik Lemmink and Bram Buigel
- An online information session on ideal race preparation (date to follow)
- Optional weekly training schedules for the 10 km or half marathon
- Participation is possible both individually and as a team: simply offer the clinics to your staff as a health and vitality programme.
- You can take part in all running clinics or, for example, just one clinic.

The large-scale Lifelines population study is inviting new participants for the first time in twenty years. The study is seeking around 16,000 relatives of existing participants. This expansion has been made possible by a grant from the National Programma Groningen (NPG).
The 2026 Kavli Prize was awarded last week. Alongside the Nobel Prize, the Kavli Prize is regarded as one of the highest honours in science and is awarded every two years by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
Who is developing the most impactful innovation in Life Sciences & Health in the Northern Netherlands? Five companies are in the running for the LIFE Science Innovation Award 2026: Flux Robotics, Limosa Immunodiagnostics, SPCTR, MimeCure and GlycanScan International. The nominees will present their innovations on Tuesday 22 September during the fifth edition of the LIFE Science Conference in Groningen. An independent jury will select the winner, who will receive a €10,000 cash prize.
