The Half Marathon distance for the Groningen Half Marathon powered by Campus Groningen is sold out – and more than a month before the start! But there's good news for everyone still wanting to join: tickets are still available for the 10 KM, 5 KM, and the 2.5 KM Kids Run.
This first edition takes place on Sunday, May 25, 2025. A unique running event featuring four distances that take you through Campus Groningen, nature, the Noorderplantsoen, and the heart of the city of Groningen. The start and finish are located at the Zernike Campus, one of the most innovative places in the Netherlands.
Whether you’re aiming for a fast 5 or 10 kilometers or joining the Family Run with your loved ones, this is your chance to experience Groningen at full speed. The courses are varied, challenging, and festive – perfect for both avid runners and beginners.

Iris Sommer will receive the 2026 NWO Stevin Prize, the highest honour for researchers in the Netherlands who have achieved exceptional results in translating knowledge into societal impact. Sommer will receive €1.5 million, to be spent on scientific research and initiatives relating to knowledge utilization. Sommer is a professor of Psychiatry at the UMCG and the UG.
