The project Energy Lounge! symbolises a unique, cosy space of ROAM on Zernike Campus where diverse audiences can gather to learn about Energy Transition through artistic approaches. Twenty students from the off-course program at Academie Minerva will explore ecofriendly forms of art practices to share future visions in a chill-out, lounge setting.
Energy transition is an urgent environmental issue from local to global, embracing multiple principles which can broaden artists’ creativity. The re-use of archives and sound-based/verbal communication will be focused on as sustainable methodologies. The title is inspired by Alfredo Jaar’s influential installation, Marx Lounge (2010-2016).
1. Cabinet of curiosities: Laboratory objects, diagrams and images from energy and climate research centres in Zernike are represented. As imaginative artefacts, they illustrate how to recycle scientific materials in art contexts.
2. Sound installation: Inviting energy experts, talks are recorded at the venue. Sound pieces in local areas, arousing natural energy resources, such as wind, solar, hydro, geothermal and biomass, might be added for a soundscape.
3. Lounge talk / Lounge reading: Multiple public events are organised to encourage interactions with the visitors. Reading related books and discussing the theme (and beyond) in a relaxing mode can cultivate public participation led by students. More information coming soon
