Hanze Entrepreneurship is Hanze University of Applied Sciences' Centre of Expertise (CoE) for Entrepreneurship. The CoE focuses on multidisciplinary research, developing entrepreneurial talent and stimulating young entrepreneurship. When it comes to entrepreneurship, we are the knowledge partner for small and medium-sized enterprises, ensuring more and better entrepreneurs in the region and beyond.
The Centre of Expertise Entrepreneurship aims to strengthen SMEs and renew their surrounding innovation ecosystem. We do this through multidisciplinary research conducted with and for SMEs, which increases the chances of success for the company and boosts employment in the region. Our research is aligned with the Northern Innovation Agenda (NIA), which identifies a number of themes: Digitalisation, Internationalisation, Human Capital and Regional Innovation.
At Hanze University of Applied Sciences, students have the opportunity to get started with entrepreneurship during their studies. For example, students can take various minors focused on entrepreneurship, graduate with their own business and make use of the top entrepreneur scheme. Every year, the entrepreneurship event for students in the Northern Netherlands takes place, where the Rabo Entrepreneurship Award and Anner Award (worth €10,000 each) are presented. We organise this event, called “Take Your Business to the Stage”, in collaboration with initiatives, programmes and (alumni) entrepreneurs in Groningen. In addition, Hanze Ondernemen supports various institutes in improving and integrating entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial spirit within their programmes.
Start-up City (Kadijk 2) is the creative hub on the Campus in Groningen where students, lecturers, staff and the Hanze network can come together in a learning environment that focuses on “entrepreneurship and meeting people”. It is a clubhouse where “being entrepreneurial” is the norm. Here, connections are made between the professional field, research and education, which strengthen co-creation and self-development. Listening to each other's success stories and challenges. At Start-up City, there is opportunity to meet, space and support for entrepreneurship. Start-up City offers various programmes and events for students, lecturers and schools.
