ENTRANCE – Centre of Expertise Energy is the hotspot for applied sciences for business innovations. Since October 2015, the latest sustainable energy technologies have been tested in this energy innovation workshop. It contains a laboratory with facilities, technology and the best possible network to develop plans for energy products and services for the market.
The Digital Society Hub (DSH) is an inspiring learning community in the field of digitisation and digital transformation where experts from the business community and government work together with students, lecturers and researchers to devise and test solutions to current social issues and challenges.
Innolab Agrifood stimulates and facilitates entrepreneurship. It offers laboratory facilities as well as business support, including in the areas of business development, strategy, intellectual property, and patenting. This Innolab provides opportunities for students and innovators to further develop their own initiatives. Innolab Agrifood is located in the Avebe Innovation Center.
Innolab Chemistry on the Zernike Campus Groningen offers start-ups in the field of chemistry basic laboratory facilities such as fume cupboards, lab tables, a number of general laboratory facilities, office space and meeting and presentation rooms. In addition, Innolab Chemistry offers access to a number of shared utilities and services in the areas of procurement, analysis capacity and networking opportunities.
Campus Groningen is a vibrant breeding ground for innovations and high tech solutions. To bring projects from research toward proof of concept, partners at our campus envisaged a place for new ventures. The start of our Innolab formula was initiated by Nobel laureate Prof. Ben Feringa (2016 Nobel chemistry laureate and professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Groningen); Innolab Chemistry was the first in the series and is established in 2014. Nowadays Innolab Chemistry is housed together with the Innolab Engineering in the Innovation Center for Chemistry and Engineering.
RIOLab offers permanent workspaces. In addition to all the necessary facilities to get started right away, including internet, whiteboard, projector and free parking, the workspace offers an innovative environment with various spaces ranging from 25m² to 45m². The working environment is available 24/7.
The Zernike NanoLab Groningen, part of the Zernike Institute of Advanced Materials, contains state-of-the-art equipment for nanofabrication, deposition techniques, lithography, microscopy and scanning probe techniques. In addition to conventional techniques for semiconductors and metals, it is also possible to process organic semiconductors. Cryogenic and laser setups and instruments for electronic and microwave measurements are available for measurements.
The Meditech Centre is the incubator of the Healthy Ageing Campus. It is a place where companies active in the field of life sciences, primarily medical technology, can come together. The Meditech Centre offers entrepreneurs, companies and start-ups the opportunity to be close to the knowledge of the UMCG and to make use of lab and office facilities. This shared accommodation near the UMCG offers companies the opportunity to share knowledge and experience in a new networking environment.
Space Werkcafé is located in the Chemistry and Engineering Innovation Centre on Zernike Campus, where, in addition to a number of larger companies, there is also space for start-ups and R&D departments in the Innolab facilities. This hospitality hub features a cosy café area, a beautiful terrace on the third floor, as well as flexible workspaces and meeting rooms.
Start-up City on the Zernike Campus is where Innokite and the Centre of Expertise (CoE) Entrepreneurship at Hanze University of Applied Sciences support start-up entrepreneurs, start-ups and scale-ups through various programmes to realise their ambitions in the field of innovative and sustainable growth in the Northern Netherlands.
Plus Ultra Groningen is an ultramodern building on the Zernike Campus in Groningen. With a wide range of office and lab spaces and meeting places, Plus Ultra Groningen facilitates the formation of a strong community that every tenant can be a part of. ZernikeLab is a multi-tenant building spanning over 2,578 m², located on the Zernike Campus in Groningen. Its proximity to the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences makes ZernikeLab a perfect location for companies operating in the knowledge-intensive sector. The lessor is Kadans Science Partner.
The Zernike Advanced Processing (ZAP) facility is a semi-industrial environment where knowledge institutions and the business community work together on innovative solutions for the biobased economy. Entrepreneurs can come to ZAP with research questions, and we are happy to draw on their experience to bring new biobased products to market or make (chemical) processes more sustainable. In this way, ZAP contributes to building a robust region and a stronger international position.
